About us

Thessaloniki Aeroclub was founded in 1930 and is the oldest aeroclub in Greece. In fact, it's one of the oldest aeroclubs in Europe as well. Our offices and hangars are located inside the premises of Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia (40°31'10" N / 022°58'25" E), just 15 km south of the center of the city of Thessaloniki, which is the second most populated city in Greece (pop. 1,5 mil). The ICAO code of the airport is LGTS, the IATA code is SKG and Local Time is UTC+2 (DST observed March - October UTC+3). For a complete list of Greek airports click here!

Thessaloniki Aeroclub is a private non-profit society, whose main objectives are to increase the aviation culture in general, offer the Private Pilot License (PPL/A) training and the joy of flying to its members, as well as to participate in sports activities and races involving aeroplanes.

Αll members of the Aeroclub are continuously involved in voluntary activities such as supporting the local authorities and organizations in Search And Rescue activities, surveillance of the forests and the seas for fire detection and pollution prevention, etc. For these voluntary activities, the Aeroclub has been awarded with the Athens Academy Award, the "Diplome d' Honneur" from F.A.I., the issue of a honorary stamp by the Hellenic Post and several other official awards from state and private authorities and institutions.
